The CHADS Lighthouse Award recognizes teachers, counselors, and schools that are dedicated to the education and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. Individuals and schools are nominated by CHADS staff for demonstrating consistent and significant support of the CHADS mission through their participation in CHADS programming and efforts to provide and improve interventions for adolescents.

LIGHTHOUSE AWARD WINNERS

Confluence Academy - Old North Campus

Counselor Deborah Hoechst

August 2023 RECIPIENT

Here is what her nominator, CHADS SEW Mentor, Mark Cohen said: “This is my second year working with Mrs. Hoechst at Confluence Academy Old North and she never disappoints! As a new mentor last year and returning this year Debby has gone above and beyond to make my job easy! At the time of our initial counselor meeting Debby had all of the signed consents ready for me to go and was already working on a schedule. Debby consistently makes sure I have a quiet place to meet each day I am in her building. She never hesitates to roll out a table and set it up and have my space ready to go. Debby is passionate about her students and is always searching for ways to get them additional services that can't be provided by her and her school alone. She welcomes CHADS into her building as well as other organizations that are all in partnership to do what is right and good for the students at Confluence Academy Old North.”

Thank you Debbie and the team at Confluence Academy - Old North for your partnership and support of youth mental health in our community!
